Why I Wrote This Book

Throughout my career, I have seen capable businesses, experienced leaders, and hardworking teams lose momentum for one simple reason: decisions moved too slowly.

Information arrived late. Approvals remained pending. Teams waited for direction. Meetings ended without closure. Leaders hesitated because the information was incomplete or unclear.

The problem was often not a lack of talent, effort, or opportunity. The real problem was friction inside the decision making process.

I wrote Decision Speed to provide leaders with a practical way to identify and remove that friction. The book focuses on clarity, ownership, reliable information, simple workflows, and disciplined leadership habits that help organisations move faster without becoming reckless.

Fast decisions are not rushed decisions. They are informed, structured, and timely decisions made with enough clarity and confidence to keep the business moving forward.

Inside the Book

Decision Speed is structured around a practical journey from understanding why decisions slow down to building systems, habits, and tools that create sustained organisational momentum.

The book is organised into six sections:

Section I: The Foundation of Decision Speed
Understand why decision speed matters, what makes a decision fast, and how finance leadership can help create the conditions for faster and more confident action.

Section II: Removing the Barriers
Identify the three major causes of delay: slow information, inefficient workflows, and lack of clarity in responsibilities and processes.

Section III: Building the Decision Speed System
Learn how to map decision paths, identify friction points, improve information flow, and build teams with clear decision rights and accountability.

Section IV: Acceleration Tools
Apply practical methods including 24 Hour Decision Cycles, the One Page Decision Model, and leadership habits that turn discussions into action.

Section V: Scaling Decision Speed Across the Organisation
Build a culture of fast action, measure decision speed, track turnaround times, and strengthen leadership alignment.

Section VI: Execution and Continuity
Implement a practical 30 Day Decision Speed Reset and use tools such as decision logs, escalation sheets, speed dashboards, and one page decision summaries to sustain improvement.
